The “Georgios Jakobides ” Digital Museum, located in Chydira, Lesvos-the birthplace of the artist- is Greece’s first entirely digital Art Museum. Designed according to a specific museological study featuring new technologies, the Museum faithfully spotlights the life and work of the acclaimed Greek painter through an array of electronic systems used for digital reproductions.

Georgios Jakobides

IakovidisGeorgios Jakobides was born in Chydira on the island of Lesvos in 1853. He was a student at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where he was taught by Nikiforos Lytras. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, where his teachers comprised Gabriel Von Max, L. Löfftz and W. Lindenschmit.
